Jasleen Kaur, an Indian-origin artist, was awarded the Turner Prize for her exhibit that pays tribute to her family’s history of migration to Scotland.

About	Named after JMW Turner (1775-1851), known for his dramatic seascapes and innovative use of color and light, it was first awarded in 1984 by *Patrons of New Art*. It aims to promote interest in contemporary art and assist the Tate Gallery in acquiring new works.

Spotlights new talent and helps lesser-known artists gain international recognition. The winner receives £25,000, and shortlisted artists receive £10,000 each.
