In the body, mention the important functions of Opposition in maintaining the checks and balances, scrutiny of the policies formulated by the government, review of the actions of the government, raising the demands of the public and questioning the government on various issues. In the next part, mention the failure of the anti-defection law to stop the defection which is used by the ruling party to weaken the opposition.
Conclude by mentioning that it is for the Opposition to make itself credible and strong. It must feel the pulse of the people. Unless it makes itself respectable, it cannot demand any respect. This is the biggest challenge facing the nation today.
