  • In the body, mention the US’s exit from Afghanistan and its long term consequences for all the regional players like Pakistan, Iran, China, India etc. Next, mention the challenges in regional cooperation due to divergent interests between India, Pakistan, China, Iran and Russia making the idea of regional cooperation difficult to implement.
  • Conclude by mentioning the need for India to avoid being over-optimistic about the regional solution and increasing the engagement with various groups in Afghanistan and regional partners.

Nice attempt. Your knowledge and content is good.

Introduction is fine. In the body you have missed writing about Russia. Also, you can briefly mention the current view of different countries on US withdrawal, and then come to the long term challenges they are facing. For example- China might see this as one more step in pushback of US ideology and a victory for the alternative model of governance it provides, Iran will certainly be happy in short term seeing US pegged back similarly for Pak, Russia and India.

Points regarding India are fine, you can give some justification for why India needs to engage with Taliban( Taliban also might be looking for regional partners, feeling the need to balance Pak etc).

Way forward and conclusion are fine.

      Keep practicing. 🙂

This is a 15 mark question. Accordingly, your content is a bit less.

In introduction, mention a bit of background about SCO, then mention that Afghanistan has been one of its top agendas for a long time.

In the body take a country wise approach – you have to cover the important players of the whole region not just India-Pakistan.
Mention current response on US withdrawal of Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan,India and then mention what are the challenges each of them are facing in long term.

Then in way forward mention about what approach should India adopt- here you can mention engagement with Taliban-justify it by giving some reasons (Taliban also might be looking for regional partners, feeling the need to balance Pak etc).

Conclusion is fine. Read some more about the topic and try to cover the question holistically.

      Keep practicing. 🙂

      Challenges part is fine.

After that, the question is not asking explicitly about India’s Afghan policy, rather mention the divergent perspectives of China(ambition of occupying the space left by US and brokering a solution) , Pak( keep Taliban under it’s protectorate) and then India(Afghan led Afghan owned peaceful solution).

Way forward is fine. Write a concluding statement.

      Keep practicing. 🙂

Nice attempt. In introduction, also mention a bit of background about SCO, then mention that Afghanistan has been one of its top agendas for a long time. You need to substantiate that regional solution had a political appeal since long.

In the body you can first briefly mention the current view of different countries on US withdrawal, and then come to the long term challenges they are facing. For example- China might see this as one more step in pushback of US ideology and a victory for the alternative model of governance it provides, Iran will certainly be happy in short term seeing US pegged back similarly for Pak, Russia and India.
      Challenges part is fine.

India’s role is not explicitly asked. You can avoid that, in way forward you can mention what can be India’s approach going ahead.
Instead, mention the divergent perspectives of China(ambition of occupying the space left by US and brokering a solution) , Pak( keep Taliban under it’s protectorate) and then India(Afghan led Afghan owned peaceful solution).

Way forward is fine, also mention that India should not keep it’s expectations high for a regional solution rather engage with each player.

      Keep practicing. 🙂

Nice attempt. Introduction is good examples of political appeal of regional solutions are also good.

In the body while mentioning about countries, long term perspectives are fine. Also mention the challenges India and Pakistan face respectively similar to the way you have mentioned about China, Iran etc
You can also mention in brief the different response US withdrawal has elicited in different countries to emphasize upon divergent perspectives of the countries in the region.

Way forward is fine. Also mention that India should not keep its expectations high for a regional solution rather engage with each player including Taliban as Taliban also might be looking for regional partners and options to balance Pakistan and pursue independent relations with countries.

      Conclusion is fine. Keep practicing.🙂
