Q.1 What were the reasons behind the failure of the League of Nations? How did this failure shape the formation of the United Nations as its successor? (10 Marks)

Mentor’s Comments-

  • In the introduction, give a brief background of the League of Nations.
  • Discuss the reasons responsible for its failure- too closely linked with Versailles treaty, lack of major powers, deadlock on important matters etc
  • Discuss how the UN system evolved learning from the failures of the league.
  • Conclude accordingly.

Please mention reference ID for reviews.

For first attempt, you have done well.

Intro first few lines ia good. No need to mention concert of Europe in detail.
In 10 marker questions, try to stick to what is asked as there is less scope for writing much.
Make subheadings from the question itself, this will help you identify what all to write.
For example, here you can mention 2 subheadings- reasons for failure of league of nations; how the failure shaped UN.
First part has been tackled well by you, in 2nd part try to mention some points – learnings from treaty of Versailles fiasco(avoiding humiliation of defeated powers), almost universal membership, structural learnings etc
Also try to provide a proper conclusion, quotes etc can be mentioned there; avoid them in the middle of the answer.
Anyway, good attempt. Keep practicing. 🙂
