      Shubhashree,
You have Written a very good answer.
But you have breached the word limit with big margin. Writing 10-20 words more then limit is fine but writing that much words can be a cause for penalty.

Coming to content first section is very well written but there are repetition at places. Also you need to concise your ideas with points like official institutionalisation of the caste, legal recognition to the customary (caste-based) rights, legal recognition to the lists or ‘schedules’ of castes and tribes marked out for special treatment by the state etc.

In Second Section you need to expand more your discussion beyond Govt steps add points Related to impact of urbanisation, industrialisation, domestic politics etc.
Way forward and Conclusion are written well.
Overall a good Attempt. Just mind the word limit

      Fauziya,

You have very good idea about the traditional debate around the caste system but this in not at all the demand of the question.

You need to write what is asked in the question not whatever you know about the topic. Expected few places whatever you have written is very hard to Relate with the question.

After writing answer try to read your own answer and self evaluate. The right answer is the one by which an evaluator can get the idea about the question. Self evaluation will make you improve faster.

This is GS question, briefly write about caste system in Introduction than in body about both the section asked in the question.

In first section you need to write ideas with points like official institutionalisation of the caste, legal recognition to the customary (caste-based) rights, legal recognition to the lists or ‘schedules’ of castes and tribes marked out for special treatment by the state etc.

In Second Section you need to expand more your discussion with points like Govt steps such as article 17, reservation etc; impact of urbanisation, industrialisation, domestic politics etc.

Then Suggest further measures for annihilation of this system.

Take help from Mentor’s Comments if you find difficult to understand on what lines you need to address the question.

      Keep Practicing 🙂

      Sahaj,

      Your Introduction is well articulated.

However In this answer you need to diversify your arguments. Along with paragraph you can Inculcate point format so to bring in more ideas into discussion.

In first section you must add policies of British rule and how this system got shaped by it. Add points like official institutionalisation of the caste, legal recognition to the customary (caste-based) rights, legal recognition to the lists or ‘schedules’ of castes and tribes marked out for special treatment by the state etc.

In Second Section you need to expand more your discussion beyond Govt steps add points Related to impact of urbanisation, industrialisation, domestic politics etc.

Way forward is written fine but you must always write way forward and Conclusion separately.

      Keep Practicing 🙂

      Rajlaxmi,

Use your pen only for drawing the diagrams.

Your Introduction and Conclusion both are very well Written.

In this question You have Written just facts there is not any kind of analysis whatsoever in your answer. This does not address the demand of the Question.

Here you had to show how present form of caste shaped by both colonial rule and development in post independent India.

In first section you need to write points like official institutionalisation of the caste in Govt jobs, legal recognition to the customary (caste-based) rights, legal recognition to the lists or ‘schedules’ of castes and tribes marked out for special treatment by the state etc.

In Second Section you need to expand more your discussion with points like Govt steps such as article 17, reservation etc; impact of urbanisation, industrialisation, domestic politics etc.

I dont expect this kind of answer from you. You write good Answer and this is not at all upto the mark.

Focus more on analytical part. Keep writing:)

      Kartikey,

You have Written a good Introduction but Conclusion can be Written much better.

In first section you need to add points Related to British policies like institutionalisation of the caste in Govt jobs, legal recognition to the customary (caste-based) rights, legal recognition to the lists or ‘schedules’ of castes and tribes marked out for special treatment by the state etc.

In Second part add points related to impact of industrialisation, urbanisation, Globalisation, politics etc.

Add a way forward to Suggest some measures to correct ills of this system.

      Keep writing 🙂
