    • We want to understand you better to help you optimize your journey so you can focus on the right things and not waste time on the wrong ones.
    • We are asking you to tap into the valuable experiences of mentors who underwent the same grind and realize the pitfalls and understand the shortcuts to make it.

What happens when you fill this form? How does a call help you?

    1. Identifying your weaknesses
Over 80% of students who claimed to have revised NCERTs twice were unable to answer basic questions. Many were not comfortable with at least 1 GS subject and Optional. Many struggled with ‘What went wrong’ after 2-3 years of hard work. Our mentors will provide free preliminary assignments so we can assess your preparedness and suggest accurate strategies.
    2. Strategy and study plan discussions
Over 90% of students couldn’t stick to a plan. Study plans and strategies are iterative in nature and we want to help you with that. Many are unable to perform in tests despite preparing hard. This could be due to a variety of factors – lack of adequate prep, jitters in the exam hall, inadequate revision, lack of practice of test series or just a bad day at work. Tell us what you think went wrong and we’ll figure out a way to get you over the line next time.
    3. Helping you understand the exam better – which books to read, different approaches, etc. Over 60% of students we talked to did not find NCERTs relevant and saw no point in being thorough with them.
    4. Lack of motivation
We have all had those days when it’s been hard to motivate ourselves to hit the books and just study. It happens to the best of us sometimes and for some of us, it happens more frequently. And it is understandable, Civil Service preparation is a long and often lonely process. Every aspirant, from toppers to those who have quit have been overwhelmed by this process at some point in time. Working alone is monotonous and helps you keep motivated by ensuring you are actively and passively studying every day. Focused telegram groups to foster discussions.

  • UPSC IAS Prelims just around the corner and Coronavirus outbreak! Here’s how to ensure your preparation is back on track

    Dear students,

As you know, all sorts of precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

While the virus as such is not fatal(as compared to ebola and others), it spreads really fast and can affect anyone with low immunity and pre-existing conditions. Moreover, our healthcare system doesn’t have the capacity to deal with such large scale epidemics.

Hence, it’s imperative that we act with prudence to ensure we break the transmission chain before it becomes a systemic problem.

Having said this, it’s very important that you only refer to official sources like WHO, Ministry of Health, etc.

    https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

Do not spread videos/posts that have been produced by people claiming to be doctors/ healthcare professionals. As students preparing to get into the services, it is important that you identify fake news and stop its spreading.

Since all of Old Rajinder Nagar, libraries and other physical communications have been blocked, most students are panicking and experiencing anxiety. It is quite natural.

Here are some tips to boost your spirits up and get you back on track

    1. Among other things please revise the definition and differences between outbreak/ epidemic/ pandemic. 😉

    2. Of course, a change in study environments at this crucial time leads to a break in a well-developed flow and schedule. Please understand this is not a disadvantage uniquely targetted at you. It impacts the majority.

    3. Get a study regime up. Lock your room, put a headset on and block the noise.

    4. Join our Nikaalo Prelims Program. The daily discussions ensure you read and learn something without putting much effort. The registration will be done here: Click & Register here

    5. We have seen an increase in our online-lecture viewership. But most institutes have a very poor online infrastructure. If you belong to one such institute then please email us with your enrollment proof and we will aid your access to our programs.

Lastly, check out an inspiring lecture from Vishal Singh who beat all odds to get through. Clearly you can face the challenge of quarantine.

As we have reached the second half of the UPSC interviews, transcripts are coming from all sides, which, this year too have proven the efficacy of Civilsdaily’s novel approach to Interview preparation. All our students who have appeared in the interview so far, have expressed deep thanks and satisfaction for the guidance they received owing to which they performed well.

The need of the hour is to adapt in such a way that you are well prepared to tackle the unpredictability of UPSC and Civilsdaily is your launchpad to success.

Continuing with our tradition of constant up-gradation and innovation, our Mock Interviews have evolved to reflect the nuances and changing shades of UPSC. Our evidence-based questioning and innovative methodology, for example, the incorporation of rapid-fire round to unearth deep-seated & hidden biases, situational questions and case studies to reveal personality traits like leadership, emotional stability, critical power of assimilation, etc. has been a great success.

Another innovation by Civilsdaily – DAF questionnaire

DAF contains a lot of information about the candidates, including the places one has been to, their educational background, work experience, and their personality through achievement, sports, and hobbies among other things.

UPSC Interview candidates must prepare for all the information provided in the DAF, making it the base of their preparation. The things mentioned in DAF, have in one way or the other, shaped their personality, attitude, beliefs and values. Based on the interview, the UPSC panel judges their suitability for the services.

DAF questionnaire is prepared after extensive research and discussion with the candidate by the experienced faculty at Civilsdaily. An effort is made to link the information provided in the DAF with the current and controversial issues of national and international importance. All the necessary dimensions are touched by the questions so as to ensure that the student is fully prepared from the DAF , to ensure that no topic on their DAF has been left untouched.

Mission Nikaalo Prelims | Open Crash Course | Starts 6th March 2020

    • Once you fill the fields, you will be enlisted in a close community Telegram Group where you will receive PDFs of Prelims Spotlight, Revision Tests and other value-added material
    • The telegram group will also be the only place where we will have DDS sessions
    • We start on 6th March 2020. 10 AM sharp.
    • Here’s the time table of the Nikaalo Prelims

How is this program any different from the other “x-day revision programs”?

There are many institutes and websites offering open crash courses (that too for free) and most of them have their heart & efforts in a good place. Like them, we also believed that drawing up a time table and collating questions together in one place will help in an effective revision.

But we got to know better when we started having deeper interactions with our Decimate Prelims community. We started DDS (Daily Doubt Sessions) by inviting doubts from across the spectrum & study material. We aimed at resolving all doubts in 15 minutes or less and kept the discussion open in case students want to follow-up with subsequent questions and more.

    Here’s what we found:

More doubts = more conversations = increased chances of multiple threads = revision & retention

And now that we know better, we have decided to include a mini DDS for Nikaalo Prelims batch as well. And that’s what separates us from the rest.

But that’s not it. We have upped our offerings in the static & dynamic revision modules as well. Here’s how:

    • Prelims SPOTLIGHT

This initiative is meant to help you revise details and facts that can be asked in prelims. They are simplified, synthesized and prepared using most authentic sources. These can easily slip your mind or you can easily confuse these. Continuous Revision for the same is required. Dare you to miss the updates!

You will get PDFs for these notes. Trust us, less is more. We won’t overwhelm. you with content just coz we can 🙂

    • Static Subject Revision and Tests

The timetable for the static subjects is released. Tests will start on the 6th of March.

Coverage and Relevance are the 2 Pillars of our Tests.

    1. You appear for a test every alternate day at 8 PM.
    2. We believe some breathing time is necessary to ensure consistency and efficiency. Besides, a good revision also requires quality time commitment.
    3. Instant score after you submit your test with proper explanations for the questions.
    4. Top 10 Ranks will be announced for every test at the launch of the next test.

Please ensure you attempt the tests with utmost sincerity.

    • 3. Daily Doubt Sessions: There will be daily doubt sessions on a daily basis for your doubt resolutions regarding tests and prelims spotlights. This will ensure that all important topics are covered, you are not left with any confusion or doubt and get some additional information as well.

This could be due to a variety of factors – lack of adequate prep, jitters in the exam hall, inadequate revision, lack of practice of test series or just a bad day at work. Tell us what you think went wrong and we’ll figure out a way to get you over the line next time.

    3. Helping you understand the exam better

Which books to read, different approaches, etc.

Every aspirant, from toppers to those who have quit have been overwhelmed by this process at some point.

    Dear Students,

Before we jump into the finer details of our crash course for IAS Prelims 2020, let’s take you to a quick re-cap on the changing trends of the IAS Prelims from 2015 to date.

There was a time when aspirants were coaxed to prepare for IAS Mains and let Prelims be taken care of as a by-product of that preparation. This is not that time.

There was a time when in-service officers aspiring to improve their ranks and get the coveted IAS, IPS, IFS used to fine-tune their optional and interview strategies and cruise through the IAS Prelims with a month’s worth preparation. This is not that time either.

Here’s how IAS Prelims evolved over the last 4-5 years:

    IAS Prelims 2015

Equal emphasis on traditional and current affairs based questions. a combination of logical understanding and factual clarity.

    IAS Prelims 2019:

More common sense (Tikdam) based questions in CA and Polity; in-depth analysis to be done in Science and Technology and this is a stark departure from how easy S&T used to be!

  • AWE – Reminder – Enrollments Open for the Month of February & June and Important Announcement regarding the plan for the Month of February & June

    Distribution: ,

    Dear students,

AWE Program is gaining popularity and seeing a lot of participation.

We request all students to renew their subscription for the upcoming months. Let’s keep the momentum going.

The accuracy and fairness of exams can be impacted by some candidate’s fear or anxiety around the exam process. Taking a test in Civilsdaily’s Daily Answer Writing Enhancement (AWE) Program doesn’t just measure how much you know, it helps reinforce the learning and make it more likely that you can retrieve the same information later.

It’s a fact that taking an AWE test can actually be more beneficial to learning than spending the same amount of time studying. Answer writing practise through Civilsdaily’s Daily AWE program can reduce test anxiety and helps you ace the GS Mains answer writing. And what is a better way to practice for UPSC Mains Examinations than attempting the UPSC Mains Questions asked in the actual examinations? The more you are accustomed to sitting for a period of time, answering real examination questions, and pacing yourself, the more comfortable you will feel when you actually sit down to take the real UPSC Mains examinations yourself.

Therefore, in the month of February, we would be taking up the questions of UPSC Civil Services Mains, 2019. It will give you the proper experience of the level of questions asked in the examinations. At the same time, you will understand the expected demands of the questions and judge yourself better with the outcome in your answers.

There will be a break in the AWE program after February for Prelims Preparations. The program will reconvene in the month of June. The details of study plans for the month of June will be shared in the last week of May.

    Monthly Rs. 1200 + taxes: Click2Join (bi-monthly payments accepted)

The fee is for 2 months combined.

    Dear Students,

Our lectures on paper discussions and posts on solutions and sample structures have received over 20,000 hits collectively.

It is time to get serious with your preparation and we have got your back.

After numerous conversations with so many aspirants, we have started understanding your problems better and standardizing solutions for the same.

These are being incorporated into our Samanvaya program. It is these practices that will make the program more effective.

At the core of Samanvaya lies the fact that each one of you will have a unique journey while preparing for the exam. Some will get through on the first attempt without much effort while others will take both more time and more effort. We want to understand you better to help you optimize your journey so you can focus on the right things and not waste time on the wrong ones. We are asking you to tap into the valuable experiences of mentors who underwent the same grind and realize the pitfalls and understand the shortcuts to make it.

Samanvaya program involves the following –

    1. Identifying your weaknesses

Over 80% of students who claimed to have revised NCERTs were unable to answer basic questions. Many were not comfortable with at least 1 GS subject and Optional. Many struggled with ‘What went wrong’ after 2-3 years of hard work.

Our mentors will help you assess your preparedness and suggest accurate strategies.

    3. Helping you understand the exam better

Which books to read, different approaches, etc.

The 3-phase program is for UPSC veterans only. Entry Restricted to those who have given mains in the past 2 years and have failed to score high marks.

    Phase 1(January-March)
We will identify the fundamental weaknesses that are preventing you from clearing mains and prelims.

After having worked with so many students, we can say with utmost surety that these weaknesses vary from individual to individual and require a very personalized approach. They can broadly be divided into Question Comprehension, Structure, Content, Presentation, Language and Expression. But the specific shortcomings can only be worked upon in 1-1 personalized settings.

That’s the only way to ensure sure shot improvement.

    Phase 2(March-May)
You will be attempting 8 Prelims Full-Length Tests.

Detailed scrutiny of your prelims papers will be done via 1-1 personalized settings – Are you risk-averse or risk-taker, whether you are using (Tikdams), silly mistakes made, whether you are getting the factual questions wrong.

We will help you develop your prelims competency.

    Phase 3(June-September)

This will be the most important phase. The final refinements of your attempts will happen in this phase. By now, you should be in a position to write above-average answers. However, above-average answers are not enough to guarantee you a top rank. We will work with you to ensure you have enough material for value addition. Our focus will be on providing tips that add the missing X factor to your answers.
Throughout your journey, we will ensure that you have the best psychological support available. End of the day, your mind has to remain calm and less anxious to be able to give a solid attempt.

Sajal Sir will be directly interacting with you and overseeing your progress. His scores in GS Papers for 2017 were as follows –

    132 in GS paper 1
    125 in GS paper 2
    130 in GS paper 3

    Inclusions

    1. Mains Test Series

    2. Current Affairs is always a tricky affair. To ensure you have continuity, we will be giving you access to Samachar Manthan’s lectures and notes. These notes do not miss anything that is important from an exam perspective.

    3. Decimate Prelims Crash Course

    4. Prelims Full Lenght Tests – To prep you for prelims.

    Dear students,

Heartiest congratulations for clearing yet another, and according to many, the most difficult phase of this long and mettle-testing exam. You are now just one small step away from the life-changing dream the pursuit of which has instilled in you sage-like discipline and warrior-like ferocity. But, despite best efforts, the distance that this small step has to cover will be simply too large for the majority of the candidates.

So, this small step is what makes all the difference. And this is where our ‘Transcend’ program assumes the utmost significance.

Civilsdaily formally launched ‘Transcend’ (our interview Guidance Program) last year (2018-19) under the overall leadership of Sh. V.P. Singh (IRPS, 2009). This program achieved incredible success with all our (mock interview) students making it to the final list. The details of these candidates can be found here.

The official UPSC notification  mentions that the candidates will be assessed on the following qualities:

Mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgement, variety, and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.

    Besides,

Candidates are expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in their special subjects of academic study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and outside their own State or Country as well as in modern currents of thought and in new discoveries which should rouse the curiosity of well educated youth.

Go through the lecture below to understand these qualities in detail.

What UPSC expects from candidates in an IAS Interview – V P Singh, IRPS (Interview Topper)

Last year, we tracked the students on the above parameters and worked hard on them so they progressively improved. This year, we intend to raise the bar even higher by providing trailblazing professional, personalized mentorship. There are 3 broad categories into which the IAS Mains-qualified candidates are be divided:

#1. Freshers: Facing 1st UPSC interview without work-ex

These candidates have given dedicated and exclusive time to UPSC preparation, often right after their graduation. We also have candidates who decide for UPSC a little later in life. These candidates have a wide variety of backgrounds. Some have quit their jobs to prepare for CSE, some may have household and family responsibilities, etc.

The interview, in the case of these aspirants, will focus on academics, mental alertness, critical power of assimilation, leadership and teamwork, variety and depth of interest, etc.

Freshers have the advantage of ‘excitement’ and ‘happy-go-lucky’ attitude, but they also suffer from fear-of-the-unknown.

For them, Transcend will revolve around psychological strengthening and belief formation besides personality development and polishing of soft skills.

    #2. Work-Experience: Facing 1st UPSC interview with work-ex

The second category is of working professionals. These candidates have the advantages of leadership, tactfulness, foresight, and maturity. Of all other categories of candidates, the responses of working professionals are expected to be brief, well crafted, balanced, logical and reflecting emotional intelligence. Leadership is another area these aspirants are tested for.

Transcend will focus intensely on each of these general traits. Stress will be on the trends highlighted by the latest research in these domains.

#3. Veterans: Have faced the UPSC interview board in the past

Candidates who have appeared in the UPSC interview, probably more than once; but have consistently scored low marks.

Such a person has the advantage of the experience of the official set-up. She is aware of the entire process, her DAF and does not have fear-of-the-unknown. She has possibly taken mock interviews in her previous attempts but success eludes her owing to some fundamental flaw, which if unidentified, will compromise her chances yet again.

For veterans, our Transcend mentors will analyze your DAF, previous mock interviews, transcript of real interview/s and will have detailed discussions to pinpoint the weakness. Then will follow the personalized recovery strategy.

We are the only institution in this space that brings such high levels of clarity and purpose to the interview program.

All in all, ‘Transcend’ from Civilsdaily is the finest tool you can choose to uncover the shimmering light of your personality and to realize the simmering desire of your heart.

Take that final leap. You are in good hands now.

What to expect in the coming weeks?

#1. Once you submit your DAF and other details on the link & email, we request you to send a video snippet (shot over a mobile selfie and sent via Whatsapp to this number or at hello[at]civilsdaily.com) on the questions listed below. These are basic, time tested questions that do not need any preparation but helps us understand your default presentation styles:

    1. Why do you want to join the civil services?

    2. Why should you be selected over the other candidates?

    3. Which in-service officer has inspired you the most and why?

    4. One feedback that you received from a friend, peer or superior which fundamentally changed the way you operate in the world or look at the world?

We want you to be uninhibited, relaxed and natural when you make this video. All questions are compulsory (especially 2, 4 and 5).

#2. We will get back to you with the feedback on your DAF and this video exercise.

#3. Post that, your progress will be tracked in 3 rounds of interviews and taken over the telephone, skype, and panel-driven mocks and you will be given access to interact with both our in house mentors and industry experts to fine-tune your reasonings.

We will work on your innate tendencies and help you carve out the best version of yourself.

If the form gives you any trouble, mail us at atul@civilsdaily.com

    Warm Regards
