Q.1 A new globalization is taking shape, and it’s both good and bad news for India. Critically analyse. (10 Marks)

Mentor’s Comments-

  • In the introduction, define globalization and briefly describe how is it evolving.
  • In the body, write down few points explaining both the positive and negative aspects of the ‘new’ globalization.
  • Next, mention what should be the way forward for India.
  • Conclude on a balanced note.

      Very generic answer.
You have just explained globalisation multiple times and mentioned it’s traditional advantages and disadvantages. Question is not limited to that. We are seeing changes in the traditional globalization and the question asks you to analyse how these changes will impact India.
We are seeing increased protectionism, stricter immigration policies, vaccine nationalism (during pandemic), disagreements over climate finance, increased political rivalry (US, China, Russia, India, Iran etc) and all these things can be said to be bad news for India. Elaborating these points would be required.
However, some positives in recent times have been – countries wanting to reduce dependence on China which can lead to more resilient supply chains; coordinated action on climate change, counter-terrorism, regulation of Big Tech; increased capital movement; expansion of technlogy increasing inter-connectedness(work from remote locations etc) and all of this can be said to be good news for India.
Also, a brief way forward – need of new forms of international and regional integration; culture of tolerance and understanding ; cooperation on emerging issues etc could be mentioned.
      Conclusion is fine.
Read a few articles on the topic. Check out the model answers. Keep practicing. 🙂

You have good knowledge of the topic. However, presentation could be kept simple.
Write in the context of India. Two sections, one containing points which are bad news for India among those that you have mentioned (negatives + issues) and the other containing good news for India (positives+ some points like cooperation on counter terrorism, climate change(include examples like ISA, CDRI etc), increased capital movement, expansion of technlogy increasing inter-connectedness(work from remote locations etc) ) should be enough.
Points mentioned by you are good.
Also, a brief way forward – need of new forms of international and regional integration; culture of tolerance and understanding ; cooperation on emerging issues etc could be mentioned.
Introduction is good. A concluding statement can be added.
      Keep practicing. 🙂

      Hello

      Introduction is fine.
After that your answer has been broadly written from the point of view of increasing use/development of technology as globalization. However, that is only one aspect.
The question is talking about ‘new’ globalization, so difference from traditional one should be made obvious.
Present day globalization is seeing multiple contrasting themes which needs to be included in the answer. For example, we are seeing increased protectionism, stricter immigration policies, vaccine nationalism (during pandemic), disagreements over climate finance, increased political rivalry (US, China, Russia, India, Iran etc) and all these things can be said to be bad news for India. Elaborating these points would be required.
In good news you could mention some of the points that you have mentioned. Other than that, countries wanting to reduce dependence on China which can lead to more resilient supply chains; coordinated action on climate change, counter-terrorism etc could be added. Tech related advantages are mentioned.
      Conclusion is fine.
      Keep practicing. 🙂
