Q.4 “Refugees should not be turned back to the country where they would face persecution or human right violation.” Examine the statement with reference to ethical dimension being violated by the nation claiming to be democratic with open society. (10 Marks)

Mentor’s Comments-

  • Write about the principle of non-refoulment in introduction.
  • In the body, mention the ethical issues involved in refusing to accept refugees and sending them back.
  • Conclude with a way forward.

Good attempt. Your understanding of the topic is good.
Introduction is fine, you can mention some recent examples- Afghan refugees, Rohingyas etc
Points in the body are also good.
Climate refugees can be mentioned separately in one point.
You can also mention that countries use the issue to gain advantage in domestic politics which is unethical, goes against Kant’s categorical imperative etc.
      Conclusion is good.
      Keep writing. 🙂
