Q.1) Secessionist movements can be tackled by addressing Regional aspirations in an effective and compassionate manner. In light of given statement explain how India addressed it’s secessionist problems. (15 marks)

Introduce your answer either with definition of secession or with brief history of secessionist movements in India post independence.

Body

First, write causes of secession and how they are related to regionalism. Then explain how The fulfillment of regional Aspirations can led to people living demand of secession.

Explain how different states in India which were ones demanding for secession has now changed their Demand.

Conclusion – talk briefly how fulfilment of Regional Aspirations strengthen national unity.

      You need to read more about the topic.
      Briefly define secessionism in your Introduction.- it’s essentially mean separation of a group from larger Political unit to form an independent nation. Though Harit pradesh is demand for a separate state but it’s not secessionist.

      Write better reasons such as colonial legacy- J&K, foreign interference- J&K and Khalistan, ethinic cultural preservation- assam and naga issue, Perceived threat of migration like in Mizo and tripura etc.

      Same in second section here you have to write points like recognition to culture- Assamese as scheduled language, Accords like Shillong accord, Military action- Khalistan etc.
      Points you have written addressed issue of regionalism but not secessionism except point 3 and 4.

      You have very good content but better arrangement of arguments needed.
      You have addressed the demand of the question but you there are few issues that you can improve upon.

      1. Write crisp and simple definition essentially secessionism means separation movement of a group to form an independent political unit from a larger political unit.

      2. Point you have raised in intro write in body as a reason- colonial legacy. Also briefly show the link with regionalism.

      3. Rather then writing separately It would be more impactful if you write all these steps under broader Saam Daam etc. headings.

      Rightly written reasons and shown clear linkages between secessionist movements and regionalism.

      But you had write that linkage in brief.
      And in the next session you had to write steps which India took to address issue of secessionism like recognition to culture- Assamese as scheduled language, Accords like Shillong accord, Military action- Khalistan, Various development programs etc.

      essentially secessionism means separation movement of a group to form an independent political unit from a larger political unit. it’s not demand of just separate state rather movement to form a new nation.

      Your few points are correct but lack of conceptual clarity is the issue. Read more about the topic.

      You need to read more about secessionism. Essentially secessionism means separation movement of a group to form an independent political unit (nation) from a larger political unit.

      Movements like andhra, Telangana were not secessionist in nature.

      Your content essentially addressed regionalism not secessionism. Here you had to talk about Movements for independent nation formation like Khalistan, azaad kashmir, Nagalim etc.
      And steps taken such as Naga Accords, Military Action- khalistan, cultural recognition- Assamese as scheduled language then add your points.

      You have started your answer on the correct lines. Especially your Introduction is very well drafted.

      But after it you Essentially addressed regionalism except few points like British legacy.

      You need to mold your Argument to make them more relatable with secessionism. Plus this answer is Incomplete without quoting various Movements. In present form it’s a very generic answer.
      You have written rise of regional party as a cause but it’s not valid with secessionism as secessionist doesn’t accept in political system of the Nation they are part of eg. Kalisatani, hurriyat conference etc.

      Your Introduction is too long. Combine first two the paragraphs. Introduction should not be longer then one paragraph with maximum 4-5 lines.

      Write smaller paragraphs. It has pointed to you multiple times. Key to improvement is not repeating mistakes.

      You have addressed first part fine. But there are two things Hyderabad, Travancore and J&K were pre Independence hurdles in national unity not secessionism.
      Secessionist movements starts after formation a nation not before. And United India as modern nation state didn’t existed before 15th Aug 1947.
      Also you have justified demand of khalistan as practical. It’s a disasterours mistake for which your whole paper can be compromised. India designated ornanisation related to khalistan movements as terrorist organisation is symbolic of it being wrong. So be mindful of what you write.

      In the next Section you had to write steps India took to tackle secessionist movements not What is needs to do so write points like recognition to culture- Assamese as scheduled language, Accords like Shillong accord, Military action- Khalistan etc.

      In body rather then writing movements separately Inculcate them in your discussion so to add Value to your reasons.
      Write Khalistan Movement for punjab not Akali dal.

      In your reasons you have Written democracy as first Point. You must understand that secessionist doesn’t accept or believe the political system of the nation hence desire formation of independent political system.
      Our democracy is rather turned out to be accommodating which led to end of Movements like in southern India or Assam.
      Write more effective reasons such as colonial legacy- J&K, foreign interference- J&K and Khalistan, ethnic cultural preservation- assam and naga issue etc.

      However you answer didn’t even mention the two most intense secessionist movements that India faced Khalistan and J&K led by hurriyat.
      Inculcate them as well. Add reasons such as colonial legacy- J&K, foreign interference- J&K and Khalistan, Religion based Khalistan etc.

      Same in second section you can add points like recognition to culture- Assamese as scheduled language, Accords like Shillong accord, Military action- Khalistan etc.

      Causes section is very vague and generic. You need write more specific points and Inculcate examples along with these points in your answer.
